Position Overview

The Assistant Resort Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in the daily operation of Jellystone Park™ Grayling by supporting the Resort Operations Manager in delivering an exceptional family camping experience. This position is responsible for helping oversee Maintenance, Housekeeping, Recreation, Security, and overall park operations while ensuring the resort remains safe, clean, welcoming, and operating at the highest standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position that spends significant time in the field coaching employees, inspecting the property, solving operational issues, and assisting department leaders. The Assistant Resort Operations Manager serves as the acting operational leader in the absence of the Resort Operations Manager.

Due to the nature of campground operations, this position is required to reside on-site or within a reasonable distance of the park from April 1 through October 31 to provide leadership during evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.


Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations

·         Assist in overseeing the daily operation of all park departments.

·         Ensure guests receive an outstanding vacation experience.

·         Perform daily inspections of campsites, cabins, bathhouses, recreation areas, roads, and common spaces.

·         Ensure all facilities meet company cleanliness and presentation standards.

·         Address operational issues quickly and effectively.

·         Help coordinate seasonal opening and closing procedures.


Team Leadership

·         Supervise seasonal employees across multiple departments.

·         Provide coaching, training, and accountability.

·         Assist with employee onboarding and orientation.

·         Help monitor attendance, scheduling, and labor efficiency.

·         Promote teamwork and a positive work culture.

·         Lead daily department check-ins and communicate operational priorities.


Maintenance & Property Standards

·         Work alongside the Maintenance Manager to prioritize projects and repairs.

·         Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed.

·         Monitor landscaping, pools, playgrounds, utilities, buildings, and equipment.

·         Follow up to ensure work orders are completed promptly.

·         Assist with vendor coordination when necessary.


Housekeeping Oversight

·         Monitor cabin and bathhouse cleanliness.

·         Perform quality inspections.

·         Assist housekeeping leadership with staffing priorities during busy weekends.

·         Ensure guest accommodations are ready prior to check-in.


Guest Experience

·         Maintain a visible presence throughout the park.

·         Resolve guest concerns professionally.

·         Support recreation events and peak weekend operations.

·         Look for opportunities to improve the guest experience.

·         Help ensure Jellystone Park™ brand standards are consistently exceeded.


Safety & Compliance

·         Conduct routine safety inspections.

·         Ensure compliance with company policies and campground regulations.

·         Assist with incident investigations and documentation.

·         Support emergency response procedures when necessary.

·         Promote a culture of safety for guests and employees.


Administrative Responsibilities

·         Assist with inventory management.

·         Help maintain department logs and operational documentation.

·         Monitor supply levels.

·         Assist with scheduling and labor management.

·         Complete operational reports as assigned.


Qualifications

·         Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.

·         Experience in hospitality, campground operations, hotel management, recreation, facilities, or a related field preferred.

·         Strong leadership and communication skills.

·         Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

·         Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

·         Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

·         Valid driver’s license required.

·         Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the camping season.


Required Availability

The Assistant Resort Operations Manager is expected to maintain a flexible schedule based on business needs, including:

·         Weekends

·         Holidays

·         Peak camping periods

·         Early mornings

·         Evenings

·         Emergency response when needed

Residence on-site or within close proximity to the resort is required from April 1 through October 31 to ensure timely operational support.
