At Wright’s Dairy Farm, everything we do starts with the care of our herd and carries all the way through to our customers.

We’re looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to lead herd health, milk production, and daily farm operations for our 130+ Holstein cows. This role is critical to our “Cow-to-Customer” model - ensuring quality, consistency, and care at every step.

This isn’t a desk job. This is a leader in the barn, in the operation, and with the team - someone who takes ownership, makes decisions, and drives results in a fast-paced, 365-day environment.

What You'll Do
Herd Health, Production amp; Animal Welfare
  • Lead all aspects of herd health, including daily observation, diagnosis, and treatment decisions
  • Own reproduction performance (heat detection, breeding strategy, AI coordination)
  • Partner with veterinarians and nutritionists to optimize herd health and milk production
  • Ensure strong calf care and successful transition into the milking herd
  • Maintain accurate records and use data to drive decisions
Farm Operations amp; Business Performance
  • Oversee daily farm operations across barns, milking systems, and facilities
  • Drive efficiency in feed utilization, labor, and herd productivity
  • Monitor key metrics (production, reproduction, culling, replacements)
  • Identify gaps and implement improvements
  • Manage inventory and coordinate equipment maintenance
Leadership amp; Team Development (LMA: Lead, Manage, Accountability)
  • Lead, coach, and hold team members accountable (LMA: Lead, Manage, Accountability)
  • Build a strong, safety-focused, team-oriented culture
  • Oversee scheduling and staffing for a 365-day operation
  • Train team members on herd care, safety, and operational standards
  • Partner with HR on hiring, onboarding, and performance management
Strategy, Safety, amp; Compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement across herd and operations
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and livestock regulations
  • Maintain audit readiness and enforce safety protocols
  • Identify risks and proactively address them
What Success Look Like
  • Strong milk quality and production metrics
  • Healthy herd with effective reproduction performance
  • Efficient, well-run daily operations
  • A team that is engaged, accountable, and performing
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of hands-on dairy herd management or farm leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of herd health, reproduction, nutrition, and milk production
  • Experience leading teams in a farm or production environment
  • Ability to operate farm equipment (tractors, skid steers, etc.)
  • Experience with herd management systems (DairyComp, PCDart, or similar)
  • Strong decision-making, organization, and leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred
  • Artificial Insemination (AI) Certification
  • Dairy Herd Management or Herd Health Training
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
What to Expect
  • Full-time, year-round role
  • Schedule varies - includes weekends, holidays, emergencies, and as needed
  • Physically active, outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Direct interaction with livestock and equipment
  • A role that requires ownership, responsiveness, and leadership
Why Wright's
  • Family-owned business with a strong reputation and loyal customer base
  • Be part of a true Cow-to-Customer operation
  • Leadership role with real impact on product quality and operations
  • Opportunity to build, lead, and improve a high-performing team
Compensation amp; Benefits
  • $90,000–$110,000 annually
  • Potential for relocation assistance
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid vacation time
