Job description

Job Requirements

Our Neuro Trauma unit (8 Tower) has 28 beds (Tele/Oxygen monitored), 1:4/5 nurse to patient ratio (depending on acuity) with an average stay of 4-5 days and an average age of . This unit's patient population includes: Stroke, TBI, Spinal Cord Injury, Neuro Surgeries, Lumbar Fusions, Anterior Cervical Surgery, Seizures, etc. The team personality is motivated, flexible, inclusive, collaborative with a great learning environment with awesome preceptors and team longevity.  

The leaders are very supportive of team members transitioning to critical care and provide top notch training for top notch success/patient care. Our diverse patient population and case types enables this unit to grow SRHS Strong RNs! 


Weekend Staffing Team-RN Level II (job code 5879)
o Works 36 hours/week (2 shifts on the weekend and 1 shift during the week)
o Makes base rate + $20/hour on weekend shifts, makes base rate for shift during the week
o When applicable, receives shift differential of $4.25 and weekend differential of $5.75
 

Minimum Requirements

Education           

  • Graduate of an approved / accredited School of Nursing

Experience        

  • Novice to expert nurse

License/Registration/Certifications       

  • Current RN licensure in the State of South Carolina or Compact State
  • BLS ? may secure certification post-hire

  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises plan of care based on physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs of the patient/family

  • Collaborates with patient, families, and other members of the health care team to determine patient priorities, treatments
  • Coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activities
  • Initiates and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance outcome
  • Seeks necessary assistance in completing nursing interventions to assure positive patient outcomes
  • Responsible for demonstrating competencies for new equipment, procedures, and annual competency validation
  • Provides clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff
  • Successfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs and annual competencies
  • Formulates a plan for personal professional growth
  • Recommends the need to develop or revise policies and procedures
  • Serves on unit-based committees and as assigned
  • Prioritizes nursing interventions for an assigned group of patients
  • Critically assesses assigned patients? medical history, admitting diagnosis and physician?s orders, obtains nursing history, performs physical assessment, evaluates diagnostic data, and interviews patient and family to determine patient needs
  • Ability to properly assess and prioritize multiple patients according to the severity of illness, injury, and/or needs
  • Able to assess, critically think, and provide quality patient care inherent to the fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Professionally interact and communicate with patients from all age groups, diverse backgrounds, and varying educational levels. Also, must be able to communicate and treat patients that may be confused, irrational, agitated, and/or uncooperative
  • Utilizes Nursing standards and protocols to manage and stabilize emergencies until provider responds
  • Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory
  • Assures continuity of care through effective decision making resulting in quality patient care
  • Remains committed to unit, department, and division goals
  • Support patient experience initiatives
  • Participates in purposeful rounding, bedside shift reports, and huddles
