Job description

Job Opportunity: Pediatric Gastroenterologist

Our organization is on the lookout for board-certified or board-eligible candidates in Pediatric Gastroenterology to fill a full-time role within our Division.

The Department of Pediatrics at our institution is eager to welcome a new Gastroenterologist to enhance our Pediatric Gastroenterology division, which currently comprises eight Pediatric Gastroenterologists and a Nurse Practitioner.

This division delivers extensive gastroenterology and nutrition services to patients across the Inland Empire in Southern California. Outpatient care is offered through general gastroenterology clinics as well as specialized team center clinics that cater to patients with conditions such as intestinal failure (home TPN), enteral feeding tubes, inflammatory bowel disease, cystic fibrosis, chronic lung disease, spina bifida, home mechanical ventilation, and liver disease. Our Pediatric GI team center clinics are supported by a nurse specialist, dietician, social worker, and additional administrative personnel.

Our medical center and children's hospital serve as a tertiary care referral facility for the Inland Empire, covering Riverside, San Bernardino, Inyo, and Mono counties in Southern California. We feature a state-of-the-art endoscopy lab that conducts all endoscopic procedures, general motility studies, a bio-feedback program, IB Stim, breath hydrogen studies, and esophageal pH studies. Full-time anesthesia services are available for endoscopic procedures. While we do not have a liver transplant program, we collaborate with regional liver transplant centers for pre- and post-transplant care.

As a member of our division, the selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical care to pediatric gastroenterology patients
  • Engaging in teaching responsibilities for the medical school and pediatric residency program

The ideal candidate should excel as both a clinician and educator, as our children's hospital hosts a substantial residency program with 84 pediatric residents and 16 Med-Peds residents participating in the gastroenterology program. Preference will be given to applicants with experience or interest in motility disorders. There are numerous opportunities for both basic and clinical research.

The Inland Empire offers the benefits of Southern California living while maintaining affordable living costs.
