Job description

Description

We are actively seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer with a specialization in deep drawn metal stamping to join our innovative engineering team. This position requires a detail-oriented engineer with a comprehensive understanding of product design and advanced manufacturing processes, specifically in high-precision metal forming techniques.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and optimize tooling and fixtures for deep drawn metal stamping processes. Ensure these designs facilitate maximum productivity, efficiency, and quality throughout the manufacturing workflow.

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including production, quality assurance, research and development, and supply chain management, to develop creative and practical solutions to complex manufacturing challenges.

Utilize advanced CAD software tools (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA) to create detailed 2D and 3D models. Generate comprehensive engineering drawings conforming to industry standards to facilitate clear communication of design intent.

Conduct thorough feasibility analyses and computer simulations to evaluate design concepts, optimize deep drawing processes, and anticipate potential manufacturing issues prior to production.

Select appropriate materials and establish manufacturing processes and tolerances that align with design specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Perform detailed root cause analysis on production anomalies and implement effective corrective actions, utilizing methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to enhance process reliability.

Oversee the prototyping phase, developing initial models for testing. Analyze test results rigorously and make iterative adjustments to designs based on empirical data and feedback from production teams to refine product performance.

Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, employing Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance process efficiencies, reduce waste, and lower production costs.

Maintain meticulous documentation of design processes, modifications, and specifications. Ensure all design changes are accurately recorded and communicated to relevant stakeholders for future reference.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering within deep drawn metal stamping, ideally in high-volume manufacturing environments such as automotive, aerospace, or industrial machinery sectors.

Advanced proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with simulation tools for finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Strong understanding of metallurgy, metal forming mechanics, and manufacturing processes, including deep drawing, stamping, and machining.

Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a systematic approach to troubleshooting and overcoming design and manufacturing challenges.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear dialogue with team members, suppliers, and customers to ensure alignment and project success.

Project Management Experience: Proven experience in project management, with the ability to lead and manage multiple design projects simultaneously from conception through to production.

Lean and Six Sigma Knowledge: Certification or demonstrable knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary with performance-linked bonuses.
  • Comprehensive  health, dental, and vision benefits package.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions.
  • Opportunities  for professional development and career advancement within a growing  organization.
  • Flexible working environment that promotes work-life balance.

Join us and become a crucial part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to crafting high-quality metal stamped products that not only meet industry standards but also exceed customer expectations through innovation, precision, and excellence in design.

Work Environment:

This position will primarily be based in an office/manufacturing plant setting, with occasional travel required to visit clients, attend industry events, and engage with production facilities.

Application Process:

Interested candidates should submit their resume along with a cover letter highlighting their relevant experience and qualifications to jmartinez@precisonxmfg.comÂ
