Position Description Summary/Purpose:

Goodwin University strives to educate a culturally diverse student population in an environment that builds bridges between education, commerce, and community. This instructor position is an exciting opportunity in Goodwin University's growing Manufacturing Program to share your Welding knowledge by preparing the next generation workforce.

We are seeking a Welding Instructor with at least 5-years hands-on experience, plus 3 years supervisory and/or prior teaching experience. In lieu of teaching experience, extensive experience with mentoring or training will be strongly considered.

COMPETENCIES:

  • 5 years welding experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints
  • Ability to troubleshoot welding equipment
  • Quality Control/Assurance
  • Ability to work with students on complex welding procedures
  • CWI certification is a plus
  • MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT:

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Weld (TIG)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG)
  • Flux Core Welding
  • Plasma Cutting Procedures

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possess necessary skills to organize and develop relevant curriculum and teach/evaluate student performance. Delivery of duties may include early mornings, evenings, and occasionally weekends.
  • Regularly engage in professional development activities, such as internal and external workshops, and trade related conferences, staying abreast of technological advances.
  • Represent the college in a professional, positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, staff, faculty, administrators, and community contacts.
  • Possess the ability to demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to a diverse student population.
  • Possess ability to develop, organize, and present various curriculum concepts to a wide diversity of students.
  • Establish and maintain positive personal/professional working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and all community contacts.
  • Possess ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty/department meetings unless excused by the Program Director,
  • Assist program students in advising and registration.
  •  Keep attendance records on all students to comply with federal financial aid guidelines.
  • Keep accurate inventories of all equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of retention and recruiting strategies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Master's degree or equivalent in subject matter area (Preferred) or Bachelor's degree and teaching experience with at least 5 years' experience in industry preferred.
  • Industry experience in a manufacturing position with multiple disciplines, which include shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) Gas tungsten arc Weld (TIG) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Flux core welding process.
