Job description

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

We are looking to hire a 1st Shift Welder!

The Build (Responsibilities)
  • Performs welding work and activities required to produce Apex products.
  • Weld components at a fast pace and in vertical positions and downward motion.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt components to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Select and install troches, torch tips, and filler rods according to chart specifications or types and thicknesses.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
  • Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that the desired flames are obtained.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Inspect initial product and adjust as necessary to produce the quality product.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and report all safety/maintenance concerns.
  • Move materials within the work area.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures to produce a quality product/service.
  • Report unusual conditions or questionable items to supervisor.
  • Obey all safety rules and regulations.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Maintain records as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1-year work experience in production welding.
  • Demonstrated welding ability.
  • Able to work overtime hours (more than 40 hours per week and Saturdays) as required.
  • Stand and walk continuously for 8-10 hours, if necessary.
  • Lift and carry 50 pounds.
