RN Weekend Supervisor
Position Summary
The RN Weekend Supervisor is responsible for overseeing nursing services and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality resident care during weekend shifts. This position provides clinical leadership and supervision to nursing staff, coordinates resident care, addresses changes in condition, and ensures compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and standards of practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support RNs, LPNs/LVNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff during weekend shifts.
  • Provide clinical oversight and ensure residents receive appropriate, timely, and compassionate care.
  • Assess residents and respond appropriately to changes in condition, emergencies, falls, injuries, and other clinical concerns.
  • Notify physicians, nurse practitioners, families, and responsible parties as appropriate.
  • Review and follow up on physician orders, treatments, medications, and care plans.
  • Ensure accurate and timely nursing documentation and completion of required clinical records.
  • Monitor medication administration and treatment procedures for compliance with facility policies.
  • Conduct rounds and identify resident care needs, safety concerns, and changes in condition.
  • Assist with staffing assignments and address call-offs or staffing needs as necessary.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to nursing staff and address performance or resident-care concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with infection-control procedures, fall-prevention measures, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in incident investigations and ensure appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Communicate effectively with the Director of Nursing and other members of the interdisciplinary team regarding weekend clinical issues.
  • Promote resident rights, dignity, privacy, and person-centered care.
  • Serve as the nursing leadership resource and decision-maker during weekend hours when administrative leadership is not on site.
  • Complete required reports and communicate important weekend events and unresolved issues to the weekday leadership team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of Alabama.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, nursing home, long-term care, or rehabilitation setting preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
