Job description

Primary Function:
The Maintenance Mechanic is a hands-on role responsible for the disassembly, rebuilding, and reassembly of equipment; fabrication and modification of machinery; and training maintenance personnel in proper equipment repair and maintenance practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate parts and machinery as needed.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machinery for rebuilding and repair.
  • Perform rigging of machinery when required.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and facility systems.
  • Train maintenance staff on machine operation and proper maintenance procedures.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 13485, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide overtime, weekend, on call, and holiday support when required.
  • Troubleshoot and develop solutions for problematic machinery components.
  • Repair and maintain plant equipment including extruders, dryers, mixers, feeders, pelletizers, compressors, pumps, and related systems.
  • Repair or replace electrical and mechanical control devices such as switches, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, and thermocouples.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration procedures.
  • Maintain organized maintenance and service records within CEBOS (QMS) or hard-copy files.
  • Analyze and resolve equipment issues; assist production personnel with process-related problems.
  • Test equipment to confirm proper operation after repair or service.
  • Perform basic carpentry, light plumbing, and general facility maintenance tasks.
  • Complete and close maintenance work orders, inspections, calibrations, and adjustments within CEBOS.
  • Utilize welders, drill presses, grinders, hand tools, and other metalworking equipment safely and effectively.
  • Fabricate and modify new or existing equipment according to operational needs.
  • Adhere to all work instructions, ISO requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.

Additional Duties:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.

Qualifications:
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC drive systems and pneumatics.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5–10 years of experience in machinery fabrication and rebuilding required.
  • Technical school training preferred.

Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Language/Communication Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operational instructions, procedure manuals, and SDS sheets.
Computer Skills: Must be proficient in using system programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Other Required Ability: Must have good reasoning ability as described below.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
