Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor 

Job Summary: 

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, and in fabricating metal parts and tools by performing the following duties: 

Responsibility: 

  • Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment. 

  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. 

  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery. 

  • Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts. 

  • Modifies programming of robots and related equipment such as robot controllers and programmable controllers. 

  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. 

  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. 

  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. 

  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. 

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. 

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. 

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. 

  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. 

  • Maintains time and production records. 

  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. 

  • Performs activities of workers supervised. 

Academic/Educational Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

  • Associates or Technical School Degree or combination of work/education. 

Required Skills/Experience: 

  • At least five (5) years' experience in manufacturing maintenance with progressive responsibilities. 

  • Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred. 

  • Considerable knowledge of standard methods, principles, practices, tools, and equipment of the maintenance trades. 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact and communicate at all levels of organization. 

  • Considerable knowledge of electric motors, generators, pumps, pressure systems, water system, HVAC and other equipment and systems of the maintenance trades. 

  • Ability to plan and design projects, work from sketches, blueprints, and manuals., 

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles of mechanical equipment design and fabrication. r. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.  Considerable knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations and industry safety standards. 

  • Knowledge of employment laws.
