Job description

Prep Cook / Kitchen Steward - Limelight Hawaii
Department: Food & Beverage - Limelight Hawaii
Hourly Rate: $17.00
Reports To: Executive Chef & Sous Chef
Position Overview
Limelight Hawaii is Honolulu's newest entertainment and dining venue, offering cocktails, à la carte dinner service, and banquet events for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We are seeking reliable and hardworking Prep Cooks / Kitchen Steward to support kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring the culinary team has the tools and environment needed to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Steward Duties
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store all dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, floors, walls, and work areas.
  • Operate dish machines, glass washers, and cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist in waste removal, recycling, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Support kitchen readiness by ensuring all stations are stocked with clean wares and supplies.

Prep Cook Duties
  • Assist chefs and line cooks with basic food preparation including washing, chopping, portioning, and labeling ingredients.
  • Set up prep stations and stock with necessary supplies for daily operations.
  • Follow safe food handling and sanitation practices at all times.
  • Assist with banquet and event preparation, including bulk portioning and setup.
  • Support new dish rollouts and menu tastings as directed by the culinary team.

Qualifications
  • Previous stewarding or prep cook experience preferred, but training will be provided.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to cleanliness, safety, and teamwork.
  • Ability to take direction, follow procedures, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and work in hot and wet environments.
  • Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
