About the Department:
SMU Libraries is an active partner in the intellectual life of the university. Across SMU, the Libraries advance learning and research through expert services, distinctive collections, innovative programs, emerging technologies, and strong partnerships with faculty and students. Our librarians help students and scholars discover, evaluate, create, and use information while continually exploring new approaches to teaching, research, and scholarly practice.
The Duda Family Business Library is deeply integrated into the Cox School of Business and its highly entrepreneurial, data-informed academic environment. Students encounter business research, market and industry information, data and analytics, emerging technologies, and experiential learning throughout their education. The Duda Business Library helps them develop the research abilities, information fluency, and critical judgment they need to succeed at SMU and beyond.

Reporting to the Director of the Duda Family Business Library, the Business Undergraduate Librarian works with Cox faculty, Duda Business Library colleagues, and the interdisciplinary SMU Libraries Teaching Team.

We are looking for a librarian with strong potential as an educator, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm for developing new areas of expertise. With mentoring from experienced business and instruction librarians, the successful candidate will build knowledge of specialized business resources, market and industry research, entrepreneurship, data and analytics, AI literacy, instructional design, and assessment.

Help students, and the wider SMU community, develop confidence using company, industry, market, financial, entrepreneurship, and other business information, by providing research and reference support.
Develop familiarity with business information resources and emerging research technologies, including AI literacy and generative AI, and appropriately integrate these concepts into instruction and research support.
Create and maintain research guides, tutorials, instructional materials, and other digital learning resources.
Collaborate with the SMU Libraries Teaching Team on shared instructional initiatives, and apply current approaches in pedagogy, universal design for learning, and information literacy.
Coordinate assessment of the BBA Library Research Program.
Supervise and mentor Duda Business Library student assistants.
Continue professional growth through publishing, presentations, or participation and leadership in professional organizations.
