To partner with the Library Media Specialist in the administration of the library media center program, and to assist in the organization, utilization, and maintenance of library media resources.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Responsible for book check-in and checkout
  2. Responsible for the check-in of student devices for repair, as well as checkout of loaner student devices
  3. Assist with basic technology troubleshooting for students
  4. Assist with logistics related to book fair events, physical presence in the library, pull teacher requests
  5. Creating and assembling displays
  6. Assists in the maintenance of library materials, equipment, and facilities for effective and efficient utilization and circulation
  7. Assists in cultivating an atmosphere that invites students to visit the Library Media Center for classroom and personal reading, communicating, and learning
  8. Supervision of students during visits in the library
  9. Receives and processes new books by typing and affixing appropriate categorical code
  10. Assists in shelving new books, types, and files catalog cards, assists students with reference assignments
  11. Sorts and places returned library materials to appropriate shelves
  12. Assists students in locating books, typing book orders, preparing inventory and circulation reports
  13. Inspects returned books for damage and repairs books as necessary
  14. Assists in the direction of student library helpers in work routines
  15. Assists in the check-in/check-out of foundational resource inventory
  16. Follows and implements measures to make the library a supportive element of the instructional program
  17. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working in a school environment preferred
  • Strong background in computer and information technology
  • 60 College Credit Hours with paraprofessional license
  • Experience with school libraries/technology
  • Ability to speak a second language is preferred

EVALUATION: As per the current collective bargaining agreement
Employment Terms/Hours: 7 hours/day; five days per week
Salary: As per current support staff contract
