Position Summary
The Library Associate I is responsible for assisting the public with the circulation and borrowing process, greeting patrons and providing directional assistance, and locating and shelving materials.
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
What You'll Be Working On

  • Greets patrons and maintains patron interaction statistics
  • Works at the Checkout Desk and Drive-up Window
  • Provides assistance with library cards, self-checkouts, library online services, and use of the Copy Center
  • Handles patron inquiries, relays information, and responds to general questions from staff and the public
  • Facilitates borrowing/return process of library materials
  • Shelves library materials
  • Assists with removing library materials from book returns
  • Cleans, sorts, shelves and straightens library materials/equipment
  • Checks library shelves to locate items and update item status accordingly
  • Assists with room set-ups and breakdowns for library events
What You'll Bring
  • One (1) year of customer service experience
  • Service-oriented attitude with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and the public that further the goals and objectives of the library
  • Ability to complete detailed work accurately, efficiently, and on time, with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
