Job description

Richland Library is seeking to hire a Full-Time Children and Teen Services Coordinator at our Main location within the Events and Experience Department.

Sample Duties:

  • Coordinating and assisting in special projects, meetings, staff trainings, services and events system-wide to include individual branches and partnered organizations that serve children, teens and families.  
  • Assists with planning and executing special events and programs including but not limited to author events, Kids in Print, the Summer Learning Challenge, Augusta Bakers Dozen, Read Freely Fest, etc.  
  • Facilitates the contract process related to performer agreements and assists with logistics for internal and external events/meetings 
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all projects, events and meetings 
  • Assists with problem-solving related to customers and staff and with interpreting and communicating library policies and procedures 
  • Develops promotional and information materials related to events throughout the system; responds in person, by phone, and in writing to public inquiries regarding requests 
  • Assists in overseeing grants and ensuring compliance  
  • Assist with requisitions (MUNIS) and floater schedules when needed 
  • Manage and respond to LibAnswers queue  
  • Coordinate the internal Youth and Teen Services meetings, manage communication, notes and agendas with advisement from Children and Teen Services Manager 
  • Participate in promotional opportunities for Library events which may include television, radio, and other interviews.  
  • Follows organizational, County, and public health and safety guidelines and protocols and performs job functions in a safe manner and reports all safetyreports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures 
  • Attends and participates in staff, and professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and best practices for serving children, teens and families 
  • Greets, engages, and assists diverse customers of the Library in a welcoming, professional, and respectful manner; successfully ascertains individualized needs and/or requirements for each customer 
  • Learns and consistently applies the Richland Library’s Customer Engagement Standards providing outgoing, genuine, and high-quality customer service to all internal and external customers 
  • Will be required to work outside of standard business hours, hazards per established policies and procedures 
  • Attends and participates in staff, and professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and best practices for serving children, teens and families 
  • Greets, engages, and assists diverse customers of the Library in a welcoming, professional, and respectful manner; successfully ascertains individualized needs and/or requirements for each customer 
  • Learns and consistently applies the Richland Library’s Customer Engagement Standards providing outgoing, genuine, and high-quality customer service to all internal and external customers 
  • Will be required to work outside of standard business hours, including nights and weekends based on organizational responsibilities and job requirements  

Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Education or related field; supplemented by at least two (2) years of directly related experience working with children, teens or families; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. 

Certifications and Licenses:  

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of South Carolina Driver’s License and the ability to drive a Library owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines 
Location, Salary & Hours:

Where: Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly St, Columbia, SC 29201

Salary: $48,000 - $52,000 plus excellent benefits.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week: Monday - Friday (9:00 am- 5:30 pm) with possible evenings and weekends.

Job Classification Level P2 (FLSA Status: Non - Exempt)

** Richland Library may change location and schedule of any library job.
