The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 150+ elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. It is one of the largest private school systems in the United States. Its schools have received 96 Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education over the past 10 years.
The Bilingual Instructional Preschool Teacher Assistant supports a Christ-centered, language-intensive early childhood classroom. Working closely with the Lead Teacher, this role provides instructional, language, and classroom support for dual-language learners in English and Spanish while fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support small-group and one-on-one instruction in literacy, numeracy, and language development
  • Reinforce lesson objectives in English and Spanish
  • Assist with daily classroom routines, transitions, and supervision
  • Promote positive behavior, social-emotional development, and Catholic values
  • Help prepare instructional materials and maintain an organized classroom
  • Communicate with students and families in English and Spanish
  • Support family engagement and school events

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Experience in a preschool or early childhood setting
  • Commitment to Catholic education and inclusive practices

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and move throughout the school campus
  • Availability for occasional evenings/weekends with advance notice
  • Completion of Archdiocesan background checks and Safe Environment Training

This position has an hourly rate of $18.25. An employee's pay within the hourly range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
