Job description

SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting with the setup of lab equipment, instructional materials, and lab resources which are utilized in the Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assist instructors, as needed, in operating laboratory classes in the department.
  2. Organize, maintain, and control inventory.
  3. Assist the instructor or senior lab personnel in preparing lab experiments and demonstrations.
  4. Comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices.
  5. Maintain lab equipment by cleaning and performing basic repairs, contacting the supervisor for more complicated repairs.
  6. Perform clerical assistance, as needed for lab maintenance and attendance purposes.
  7. May assist/tutor students with using lab software and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.  The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE

1 year experience in an educational lab setting or related area preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Proficiency in Word processing, spreadsheet and web page applications.
  3. Able to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds .
  4. Must be able to receive, organize, maintain, test, and setup lab, equipment, materials, or hardware supplies.
  5. Familiar with an academic lab setup, configuration, and testing of related equipment.
  6. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
