About this Job The mission of the Department of Insurance is to enforce the insurance laws and regulations of the state impartially, honestly and expeditiously. The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Specialist 4 to join the Office of Management & Finance/Louisiana Fortify Homes Program. In this position, you will help administer the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program by reviewing grant applications, ensuring compliance with program requirements, providing technical guidance to applicants and service providers, and supporting the program's day-to-day operations.

Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement; OR An advanced degree plus two years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field.

The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: As an Insurance Specialist 4 in the Office of Management & Finance/Louisiana Fortify Homes Program, you will/may: Serve as a lead worker by providing guidance, assigning work, and reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Review and evaluate grant applications to determine eligibility and compliance with Louisiana Fortify Homes Program requirements. Examine inspection reports, bid documents, invoices, and supporting documentation to verify completeness, accuracy, and program compliance. Provide technical assistance and respond to inquiries from homeowners, contractors, evaluators, and other program participants by phone and email.

Review service provider applications and monitor ongoing eligibility for participation in the program. Verify grant amounts and prepare payment recommendations based on program requirements and supporting documentation. Coordinate with internal staff and external partners to resolve program questions and ensure consistent application of program standards.

Maintain accurate records and documentation while handling confidential information appropriately. Interpret and apply program policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements in a consistent and professional manner. Participate in training and ongoing learning related to the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program, applicable regulations, and agency procedures.

Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
