Team Leader Position Summary

The Operations Team Leader (TL) is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations across the Operations Team, ensuring consistent execution of operational standards, guest experience, and team performance across all shifts.

This role serves as the primary operational owner of the museum floor and is accountable for executional consistency, process efficiency, and cross-functional coordination across all operational functions.

The TL is expected to maintain a comprehensive understanding of all operational areas, including but not limited to Reception & Rounding, ARTE Café, Retail (MD), and any additional operational functions introduced as part of business expansion.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on execution, and continuous process improvement to support a high-volume, fast-paced environment.


Team Leader Key Responsibilities


Operations Leadership & Execution

  • Take full ownership of all daily operations across all operational functions.
  • Ensure consistent execution of operational standards, guest service expectations, and readiness across all shifts.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues and cross-functional coordination.
  • Maintain full visibility of real-time floor conditions and proactively address operational gaps.


Operational Standards & Facility Oversight

  • Ensure consistent execution of cleaning, maintenance, and presentation standards across all operational areas.
  • Oversee adherence to established cleaning standards.
  • Maintain overall facility readiness across guest-facing and back-of-house areas.
  • Identify and escalate maintenance needs to ensure timely resolution.


Process Improvement & Operational Optimization

  • Continuously evaluate operational workflows across all operational areas and identify inefficiencies.
  • Design and implement process improvements to increase speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Design, implement, and enforce standardized operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor performance and adjust processes based on performance data and operational observations.


Leadership, Direction & Accountability

  • Lead and manage all Part Leaders, Captains, and Operations Staff.
  • Clearly define responsibilities and ensure accountability across all roles.
  • Provide coaching, direction, and performance feedback to ensure accountability and consistency.
  • Ensure proper training standards and onboarding processes consistently executed.
  • Foster a high-performance, ownership-driven team culture.


Scheduling & Workforce Control

  • Oversee and own all Operations Team schedules, including:
  • Shift planning
  • Time off requests
  • Ensure optimal staffing levels based on business needs and volume trends.
  • Adjust staffing plans proactively to prevent understaffing or operational risks.
  • Maintain clear visibility of workforce availability and risks.


Reporting & Performance Management

  • Own and deliver all operational reports with high accuracy and clarity.
  • Monitor key operational metrics, including:
  • Guest flow
  • Staffing efficiency
  • Sales performance (Café, MD, and other revenue streams)
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities and communicate them effectively to Management.
  • Use data and metrics to support decision-making and drive operational improvements.


Cross-Department Coordination

  • Act as the primary liaison between Operations Team and:
  • Management Team
  • Sales & Marketing Team
  • Technical Operations Team
  • Headquater
  • Proactively communicate risks, dependencies, and operational constraints.
  • Ensure smooth coordination for daily operations and special initiatives.
  • Support alignment between operational execution and company-wide objectives.


Event & Special Operations Oversight

  • Oversee all venue buyouts, field trips, group visits and other special events.
  • Ensure operational readiness, proper staffing, and execution quality.
  • Provide escalation support and maintain service standards.
  • Conduct post-event reviews and implement improvements.


Reception & Rounding Oversight

  • Oversee guest flow, admission control, and queue management.
  • Ensure consistent execution of ticketing policies and guest experience standards.
  • Maintain visibility of peak-hour conditions and implement improvements.


ARTE CAFÉ Oversight

  • Oversee café operations.
  • Review and support new menu development, testing, and rollout.
  • Ensure operational feasibility, cost control, and execution readiness.
  • Act as final operational owner of CAFÉ performance.


MD Oversight

  • Oversee inventory management and retail operations.
  • Maintain strong understanding of inventory control systems (Excel-based tracking).
  • Ensure inventory accuracy, reconciliation discipline, and reporting standards are maintained.
  • Support and guide local product sourcing and development initiatives.
  • Ensure MD performance aligns with revenue and operational goals.
  • Integrate and oversee new operational areas as introduced, ensuring alignment with existing standards, staffing structures, and compliance requirements.


Alcohol Service & Regulated Operations Oversight

  • Oversee all alcohol-related operations, if applicable, in compliance with local and state regulations.
  • Ensure proper staff training in ID verification and responsible service practices.
  • Maintain operational readiness and compliance standards for any regulated service areas (e.g., bar operations).
  • Support and lead the implementation and scaling of new regulated service functions as introduced.


Inventory & Storage Management

  • Oversee storage and inventory management across all operational areas.
  • Ensure proper receiving, storage, organization, and distribution of goods.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, loss prevention, and reconciliation standards.
  • Manage storage capacity, organization, and operational efficiency within on-site storage spaces.
  • Support expansion of inventory operations as business needs evolve.


Hands-On Operational Support

  • Step into operational roles as needed during understaffed shifts, peak volume periods, or operational disruptions.
  • Lead from the front and set execution standards through action.


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, operational standards, and safety procedures.
  • Monitor and address compliance issues across all operational areas.
  • Support incident response, reporting, and resolution.
  • Manage incident reporting, documentation, and resolution.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of operations, hospitality, or retail leadership experience within the United States.
  • Proven experience managing multi-functional teams in high-volume environments.
  • Strong understanding of retail, F&B, and guest service operations.
  • Experience in scheduling, reporting, and operational planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office, especially spreadsheet software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead under pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience working in large teams (30+ staff).
  • Calm, empathetic leadership style with high accountability.
