Job description

The Pharmacy Tech II performs primarily sterile compounding and associated activities under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy technician certification.
  • Successful completion of media fill, didactic and written testing on compounding sterile preparations.
  • One year of pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Cleans and sanitizes laminar flow bench surfaces, counters and work surfaces. Performs assigned monthly cleaning and documents as directed.
  • Sets up automated compounder and performs calibration check as required by policy and procedure.
  • Compounds low and medium risk sterile preparations in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
  • Prepares dilutions for use in neonatal compounded sterile preparations and labels appropriately with concentration and beyond-use dating.
  • Labels all compounded sterile preparations using correct storage labeling and beyond-use dating.
  • Files completed PCA sheets, Pyxis reports, invoices and other department records so that they can be readily retrieved.
  • Enters patient account charges and credits from Pyxis report, crash carts, and other records.
  • Prepares oral syringes according to policies/procedures and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with dispensing inpatient medications by filling unit dose and floor stock orders for pharmacist verification.
  • Performs non-sterile compounding per policy/procedure and properly documents all appropriate information.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday
6:00 AM - 9:00 PM; various shifts
Every third weekend
Pay Range:
Hourly/Non-Exempt
$17.00 - $24.00
