Charge Nurse – RN (Weekend Program)

Larksfield Place is a premier not-for-profit senior living community located in Wichita, Kansas. Our team is committed to providing exceptional care, meaningful service, and a supportive environment for both residents and employees. We are currently seeking an experienced and dependable Registered Nurse (RN) to join our weekend leadership team within our Health Care Center.

This position serves as a key clinical and operational support role during weekends, helping ensure quality resident care, staffing coordination, and nursing leadership coverage across our Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU) and Long-Term Care (LTC) areas.

Position Details

  • Weekend Program Position
  • Approximately 32 scheduled working hours weekly
  • Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning coverage
  • On-call responsibility from Friday evening through Monday morning

Schedule

Typical schedule includes:

  • Friday evening: approximately 4 hours
  • Saturday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Sunday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Monday morning: approximately 4 hours prior to stand-up meeting

Some flexibility may exist with the Friday and Monday partial shifts based on operational needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as weekend nursing leadership support for SNU and LTC operations
  • Carry and manage the on-call phone from Friday evening through Monday morning
  • Coordinate staffing coverage and assist with staffing-related concerns
  • Respond to urgent resident needs, falls, and after-hours situations
  • Support floor staff with clinical guidance and leadership
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members
  • Prepare and communicate weekend updates for Monday leadership follow-up
  • Assist with resident care support as needed during operational challenges
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on resident-centered care

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Kansas 
  • Previous long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or post-acute experience preferred
  • Leadership or charge nurse experience strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
