What is a Weekend Health job?

A Weekend Health job typically refers to healthcare positions that require employees to work during weekends, such as Saturday and Sunday shifts. These jobs can include roles like nurses, medical assistants, caregivers, or other healthcare professionals who provide essential services outside of traditional weekday hours. Weekend Health jobs often offer flexible scheduling and may come with higher pay rates or shift differentials due to the non-traditional hours. They are vital for maintaining continuous patient care in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities. Weekend Health positions are ideal for those seeking part-time work or needing to balance other weekday commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Health Coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Health Coordinator, you need a solid background in healthcare practices, patient care management, and typically a relevant healthcare certification or degree. Familiarity with scheduling systems, electronic health records (EHRs), and incident reporting software is often required. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure help you excel during busy weekend shifts. These skills are crucial for ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care and smooth operations when regular staff may be limited.

What are some common challenges faced by health professionals working weekend shifts, and how can they manage them effectively?

Health professionals working weekend shifts often encounter challenges such as limited staffing, increased patient load, and reduced access to support services compared to weekdays. These factors can make prioritizing tasks and time management especially important. To manage these challenges, it's helpful to communicate proactively with team members, anticipate resource limitations, and maintain flexibility in handling unexpected situations. Building strong teamwork and practicing self-care can also help ensure high-quality patient care during weekend hours.

Weekend Behavioral Health Technician (Empowerment Program)

Chandler, AZ
Full-Time Weekend Schedule | 38 Hours Guaranteed

Make a Weekend Impact by Supporting Youth Through Structure, Mentorship, and Life Skills

LivWell Behavioral is hiring Behavioral Health Technicians for its Weekend Empowerment Program, a structured, relationship-driven program designed to support children and adolescents through therapeutic activities, life-skills development, group counseling, and a safe, supportive environment.

This is not a typical technician role focused only on observation or supervision. Weekend BHTs are deeply involved in helping youth build healthier routines, improve social and emotional skills, and experience positive structure outside of school and home environments.

You'll spend the weekend working directly alongside clients - helping with daily routines, leading activities, supporting group counseling sessions, transporting clients, and creating a consistent, supportive environment from Friday through Sunday.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with youth and is interested in behavioral health, psychology, counseling, social work, or mentorship-focused work.

Standard Schedule (38-40 Hours)

  • Friday: 10:00am 10:00pm
  • Saturday: 8:00am 10:00pm
  • Sunday: 8:00am 5:00pm
  • Monday: 11:00am 2:00pm (administrative)

Extended Schedule Periods

During school breaks and holiday periods, Sunday shifts may extend to 10:00pm, creating additional hours and overtime opportunities.

Extended schedules are triggered during:

  • Fall Break
  • Winter Break
  • Spring Break
  • Summer Break
  • Certain school holidays

What the Weekend Looks Like

Friday

  • Team huddle and weekend planning
  • Pick up groceries/supplies for the house
  • Prepare for Saturday group counseling activities
  • Transport clients from home pickups
  • Help establish weekend expectations and routines
  • Dinner, evening activities, and transition to overnight staff

Saturday

  • Morning routines (hygiene, chores, breakfast)
  • Support group counseling sessions
  • Facilitate life-skills and recreational activities
  • Create structure, consistency, and positive engagement throughout the day
  • Assist with evening routines and house expectations

Sunday

  • Morning routines and house responsibilities
  • Support clients with preparation for returning home
  • Client drop-offs and transportation
  • Documentation and closing procedures for the weekend program

Monday

  • Complete notes and documentation
  • Team meetings and prep for the upcoming weekend

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide direct support and supervision to youth throughout the weekend program
  • Build positive relationships and provide emotional support
  • Assist with transportation using company vehicles
  • Support therapeutic groups, activities, and life-skills development
  • Observe and document behaviors, progress, and concerns
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
  • Collaborate with clinical and program staff to support treatment goals
  • Respond appropriately during emotional or behavioral escalations

What We're Looking For

  • Must be 21+ years old (required for transportation responsibilities)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stay calm and effective in high-energy or stressful situations
  • Genuine interest in supporting children and adolescents

Preferred Background

  • Experience in behavioral health, mental health, social services, or youth programs
  • 1+ year working in a related field preferred
  • Coursework or active studies in psychology, counseling, social work, behavioral health, or a related field
  • Experience working with children, teens, or group environments

Candidates with relevant behavioral health or youth experience will be prioritized.

Compensation

  • $19 $24 per hour
  • Consistent full-time schedule
  • Additional overtime opportunities during school breaks and extended weekends

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Unique weekend-focused schedule with consistent hours
  • Highly hands-on, relationship-based work with youth
  • Opportunity to build real-world behavioral health experience
  • Great fit for students or early-career professionals pursuing psychology, counseling, social work, or mental health careers
  • Collaborative, mission-driven team environment
