Job description

Summary of Overall Purpose of Position: Under supervision of the Golf Pro, this position provides customers with service regarding tee times, tee time coordination, rules and policies and pace for play. This position is responsible for assisting with accurate daily play totals and other duties as directed. Due to the nature of the position, the golf starter must be pleasant helpful to all guests.

Duties
  • Checks golfers onto the golf course.
  • Monitors pace of play on the course.
  • Schedules tee-times.
  • Operates POS System, including credit card machine.
  • Assures the orderly flow of play in accordance with posted tee times. Rotates players as needed to ensure the flow of play.
  • Provides welcoming "first contact" with each customer or groups of customers and ensure they have an enjoyable experience.
  • Monitors and updates daily tee sheet and update throughout scheduled shift.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly golf shop.
  • Assists in keeping the golf course and areas around the clubhouse clean and calls attention to any maintenance issues that need addressing.
  • Assists other outside staff as needed.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of scorecards, pencils, tees, ball markers, etc. at the starter desk.
  • Promote and sell merchandise items such as balls, tees, gloves, clubs, etc.
Marginal Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience: Experience using computer/cashering systems. Golf experience/knowledge preferred. Licenses/Certifications: Must possess A valid driver's license. A valid Utah Driver License must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Special Requirements: None

Knowledge of: General understanding of golf course operations; general golf course rules; and customer service. Ability to: Work with minimal supervision; understand and follow general work instructions; and ability to work flexible schedule and hours each week. Skill in: Self-motivated with desire to promote golf; service and customer focused attitude; enthusiastic, outgoing attitude and personality, patient and non-combative. Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Tool, Machine, Equipment Operation: Operates calculator; cash register; computer copy and fax machine; and phone.

Working Conditions Physical Demands: While performing this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, and talk to hear. Must have the ability to lift, bend, walk and stand for extended periods of time. Required to push, pull or lift medium to heavy objects. Working Conditions: Regular exposure to heat, humidity, cold, wind and/or rain is expected. Mostly work indoors in the Pro-Shop.
