Job Description
Battery Quality Analyst
The Role
The Battery Quality Analyst (BQA) is responsible for day-to-day quality control of battery modules and packs on the RESS lines. This role owns defect detection, repair verification, and containment activities, and partners with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance to ensure safe, compliant, and stable operations for high-voltage battery assembly.
What You'll Do
  • Monitor RESS pack and module quality performance; react to quality alerts, deviations, and BIQ requirements.
  • Perform and verify repair activities using established Task Instruction Sheets (TIS) and PQS documents (e.g., GSIP repair entry, Mojix scrap tags, header and harness replacements, module swaps, busbar work).
  • Enter, track, and confirm defects and repairs in GSIP; ensure accurate root cause, notes, and closure status for all packs/modules processed.
  • Create and approve scrap/suspect scrap tags in Mojix for modules and components, following defined process groups and quality requirements.
  • Follow and help maintain standardized work (STS, TIS, JES/SOS); participate in periodic review to keep documents current and aligned to PFMEA/MFMEA and process control plans.
  • Lead or support containment, problem solving, and corrective actions for quality issues (GSIP analysis, scrap trends, repair paretos).
  • Support launch and engineering trials, quality verifications, and special builds as required.
  • Participate in safety, layered audits, and workplace organization (5S); model safe behaviors in all HV repair and teardown areas.
  • Communicate clearly with team members, leaders, and cross-functional partners on quality status, concerns, and countermeasures.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or maintenance; automotive or battery manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with standardized work, problem solving, and use of shop-floor systems (e.g., quality, traceability, or MES tools).
  • Ability to read and follow technical work instructions (TIS, PQS, control plans) and interpret quality alerts.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy when entering defects, repairs, and scrap.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a high-voltage battery environment and in designated repair/teardown areas, following all PPE and safety requirements.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with production operators, team leaders, and engineers.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Prior experience as BQA, quality technician, repair tech, or similar role in a high-voltage or EV environment.
  • Familiarity with GSIP, Mojix, BIQ, PFMEA/MFMEA, and layered audits at GM.
  • Proven experience updating or supporting standardized work (STS/TIS) and participating in launch or process changes.

Work Environment / Schedule
  • Primarily on the plant floor and repair/teardown areas within RESS.
  • 1st shift assignment; must be flexible for overtime, weekend coverage, and occasional off-shift support based on production and quality needs.
