Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Subcontractor / FIFO)

Location: Northern Alberta Oil Sands Region (Fort McMurray Area)
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: 14/7 Rotating Days & Nights
Travel: FIFO (Flights provided out of Calgary or Edmonton)

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of heavy mining and industrial equipment (including excavators, dozers, and large rigid frame haul trucks).
  • Interpret technical schematics and manuals to resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections.
  • Troubleshoot, service, and repair on-board HVAC systems and other complex industrial assets.
  • Operate specialized diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely.
  • Ensure all heavy lifting tasks are executed safely using approved techniques and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of all repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used.
  • Adhere strictly to all northern Alberta mining safety protocols and industrial regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in a dealership, mining, or industrial setting.
  • Strong practical knowledge of excavators, dozers, and large rigid frame haul trucks.
  • Mechanical expertise encompassing HVAC systems, electrical troubleshooting, and schematics interpretation.
  • Strong background in using hand tools, power tools, and executing equipment assembly work.
  • A "safety-first" mindset paired with excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new mining support gear.
  • Bonus: Preference for mechanics with an active Corporation (Corp) ready to subcontract.
