Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically inclined Assembly Cell Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and supporting a state-of-the-art Automated Assembly Cell consisting of four Fanuc industrial robots that produce pipe hanger clevises. This is a hands-on position that plays a critical role in maintaining production flow, cell efficiency, and product quality.
Cell Operation & Component Feeding
Load and feed raw components - including clevis tops, clevis bottoms, bolts, and nuts - into the automated assembly cell in accordance with production schedules and work instructions.
Monitor the cell during operation to ensure consistent, uninterrupted component supply and alert supervision of any feed or flow interruptions.
Inspect incoming components for defects or non-conformances prior to feeding the cell.
 Packaging & Material Handling
Construct and stage corrugated cardboard shipping/storage boxes for the robotic cell to deposit finished clevis assemblies into.
Ensure boxes are properly labeled, sized, and positioned at designated output stations.
Remove completed boxes from the cell, verify counts, and transfer to downstream staging or shipping areas.
 Sizing Changeovers
Perform product sizing changeovers as directed, which include:
Swapping clevis top and bottom components for alternate sizes
Changing bolt and nut sizes to match the active production order
Replacing and securing 8 tooling fixtures within the cell
Adjusting entrance conveyor lane guides to accommodate different component dimensions
Execute changeovers efficiently and accurately using provided setup sheets and tooling to minimize downtime.
 Quality & Safety
Perform visual and dimensional quality checks on assembled clevises per established inspection criteria.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 5S standards.
Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when performing changeovers or any work near the cell.
Report equipment faults, robot alarms, or quality issues to the supervisor or maintenance team promptly.
 Documentation
Record production counts, downtime events, and changeover times accurately on shift logs or electronic systems as required.
Required
High school diploma or GED
Ability to read and follow written work instructions, setup sheets, and safety procedures
Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working in proximity to automated industrial equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Reliable attendance and a team-oriented work ethic
Preferred
Prior experience working in an automated manufacturing or assembly environment
Experience with industrial robotics, particularly Fanuc robot systems (operating HMI panels, responding to fault/alarm conditions, basic teach pendant familiarity)
Experience performing production changeovers or tooling swaps
Familiarity with conveyor-fed assembly systems
