JOB TITLE: Evidence Technician
PAY GRADE: 108
PAY RANGE: $19.73 /hour - $26.66 /hour; $41,038.40 - $55,452.80 annualized
JOB TYPE: Non-exempt, full-time (40 hours), Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. This position requires on call status and must be available on nights, weekends and holidays.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: An Evidence Technician is responsible for the handling, processing and documentation of evidence/property, ensuring the integrity and chain of custody throughout the evidence/property lifecycle.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive, log, store and dispose of evidence/property submitted to Evidence.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and ensure proper documentation is completed for each piece of evidence/property.
- Ensure the integrity of all evidence/property collected, adhering to Florida Statutes and standards for storage and disposal.
- Facilitate requests for testing at FDLE or private labs.
- Participate in audits and inventories of evidence/property to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Provide testimony in legal proceedings regarding the evidence received and the procedures followed during its handling.
- Physically lift and transport items using ladders, hand trucks, carts and other equipment.
- Drive an agency vehicle to transport evidence/property to and from all Evidence Storage facilities, other agencies and labs.
- Communicate with deputies, detectives and civilians for the disposal/release of evidence/property.
- All CCSO employees are considered essential emergency workers and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills to complete, update and submit required reports and documents.
- Ability to operate portable equipment including, but not limited to, battery chargers, jumper cables, air compressor, hand truck, fire extinguisher and ladders.
- Ability to handle firearms safely.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years' minimum experience required in receiving and issuing equipment, supplies or evidence.
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent certification of competency required, AA degree preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence procedures, government statutes and regulations required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must have the ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally required to push/pull heavy objects (vehicles, safes) and use handcarts/furniture mover.
- Walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pushing, climbing ladders both inside and outside of buildings.
- Travels to various locations using a Sheriff's Office issued vehicle including attendance to overnight trainings outside of Citrus County.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- If a current CCSO employee, then no disciplinary actions within the last 12 months and completion of current position time commitment requirement.

- Acts in a professional manner, following established protocols and procedures.
An oral board with job-related questions and/or scenarios will be administered on a date specifically set with all potential candidates notified at least three days in advance of the specified date. The oral board passing score will be 80% or higher. The Sheriff reserves the right to make selections from internal or external sources.
