Job Description
Position is for summer, option to continue to work in fall semester 2026 and spring semester 2027
Pay Rate: $14.73 per hour worked
Location: Linen Services located on Service Road
.*Due to the minimum wage increase at MSU, the starting rate for this position is going to be $16.00 effective 8/9/26. Those hired prior to 8/9/26 will also be brought to the new minimum on this effective date.
Provide service to Spartan Linen Services' customers while working in a production plant/warehouse environment.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
• Pick/issue stock upon receipt of proper requisition slip or production order
• Sorting clean and dirty linens
• Working on production style machinery in a plant setting
• Processing linens, uniforms, and other laundry items
• Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and cleaning of machines and areas of the plant to assure conformance with prescribed sanitary standards and operating efficiency.
• Working independently while on a team, based on assigned task/needs of the operation
• Working your entire shift while standing and/or walking
• Lifting and moving up to 25 pounds
• Other duties as assigned per needs of the operation
Required Qualifications
• Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
• Ability to safely and satisfactorily operate machinery in production plant setting
• Must follow all established policies and practices to contribute to a safe, healthy work environment
• Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service, practicing DOSE at all times
• Must be a motivated self-starter, able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
• Must be detail oriented, accurate, and organized
• Must be dependable and reliable, with excellent attendance
• Must have good communication skills to communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully, especially when working with a diverse population
• Ability to amicably receive constructive direction from manager/supervisor, and to professionally, quickly and efficiently implement same to maintain/improve service levels
• Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per work week
-Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm are the work hours
• Must be able to work your entire shift while standing/walking
• Basic computer use knowledge
-Position begins mid April and will carry on seamlessly into and through the summer season.
• Ability to get to Spartan Linen Services on Service Road location w/o bus support close by
• Work Location is at 373 Service Road
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to work with staff at all levels
• Ability to be flexible, quickly adjusting to different and changing situations
• Motivated self-starter with a desire to grow skill set
  • Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in morning are preferred for available hours

Physical Demands

Work Hours
Operational hours: Mon-Fri 6:00AM-2:00PM, Monday through Friday, No shifts available on weekends or evenings.
Minimum hours: Six (6) hours per work week
• Additional hours will be considered
• Domestic students may work up to 29 hours per week during the school year.
• International students may work up to 19 hours per week during the school year.
• All shifts will be scheduled per needs of the operation; your shifts might not total maximum allowed hours listed above
