Job description

We're looking for an individual who embodies the luxury lifestyle experience. An ideal Thompson team member has a passion for creating unique experiences, that can quickly perpetuate a culture of great design and superlative service, with a sharp sense of humor. This candidate will have a passion for exceptional hotel service and who can express that belief in an atmosphere of spontaneity and authenticity. The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the hotel, including guest hallways, elevator landings, and linen closets. This person must have good communication skills as well as the ability to lift, pull and push a heavy amount of weight on a consistent basis.

Essential Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Keeps the service landings clean and organized.
  • Removes trays from the guest floors.
  • Keeps corridors on guest room floors clean.
  • Maintain cleanliness of stairwells.
  • Baseboards and pictures in guest corridors must be dusted daily.
  • All guest room doors must be free of scuff marks.
  • Keeps ice machine room clean.
  • Keep guest elevator landings clean.
  • Moves furniture upon request.
  • Completes guest requests.
  • Have a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure hotel guests and associates are maintained in a safe and secure environment.
  • Ensures that assigned service landing closets are stocked at proper linen and supply par levels.
  • Empties Guest Room linens on an hourly basis or as needed.
  • Empties Guest Room garbage on an hourly basis or as needed.
  • Communicate with Guest Room and assist them with stripping guest rooms
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership

Knowledge/ Skills

  • Ability to perform all houseperson-related tasks and proficiently use job-related tools and equipment
  • Ability to remain calm in various situations, use sound judgement and effectively solve problems
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize and multi-task

Minimum Qualifications

         A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.

         Must have physical stamina to lift, push and pull heavy amounts of weight on a consistent basis.

         Candidate must have open availability including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

         Must have good communication skills.

         Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk moderate distances.

         Must be able to bend, stoop and climb.

Work Environment/Conditions

         Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, without the use of a private office.

         Must be able to cope with frequent changing priorities and deadlines with a high degree of optimism, professionalism & collaboration.

Physical Demands

         While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to see, hear, reach, use fingers to handle and feel, stand, stoop, bend and crouch up to 8 hours on a daily basis.

         Push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. 

       A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.

       Must have physical stamina to lift, push and pull heavy amounts of weight on a consistent basis.

       Candidate must have open availability including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
