Veterinary Technician | $19-$35/hr
Location: Wilmington, NC
Schedule: Full-Time | Tuesday-Friday | 7:30 AM-6:00 PM
Compensation: $19-$35/hour based on experience and licensure
Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine team in Wilmington, NC. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Credentialed Veterinary Technician who enjoys specialty medicine, advanced diagnostics, and working alongside a collaborative team to provide exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on support for Internal Medicine patients receiving advanced diagnostics and treatment.
  • Safely restrain and handle canine and feline patients during examinations and procedures.
  • Assist veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with patient care, diagnostics, treatments, and hospitalizations.
  • Prepare patients for ultrasounds, endoscopy, and other Internal Medicine procedures.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes promptly to the medical team.
  • Support patient admissions and discharges.
  • Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Collect laboratory samples under the direction of Veterinary Technicians.
  • Run, package, and submit laboratory samples according to hospital protocols.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
  • Review discharge instructions and client education materials as directed.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients throughout their pet's visit.
  • Maintain inventory, stock supplies, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
  • Support efficient appointment flow and collaborate with other specialty departments.

Qualifications
  • Previous veterinary experience preferred
  • Veterinary Assistant certification or Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, or CVT) preferred
  • Experience in specialty, referral, emergency, or Internal Medicine veterinary care preferred
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills with dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a specialty environment
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Experience with EzyVet, SmartFlow, or similar veterinary software preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet throughout the workday
  • Compassionate, reliable, adaptable, and eager to continue learning
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
