We are looking for a versatile and collaborative Medical Coder to join our team in a multi-specialty professional fee capacity. This role is perfect for a coder who enjoys variety and is skilled in both Evaluation and Management (E/M) and procedural coding across various clinical departments.

As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will ensure coding accuracy and compliance while serving as a bridge between clinical documentation and financial health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multi-Specialty Oversight: Manage work queues for diverse specialties, including Trauma, Orthopedics, GI/Bariatrics, Transplant, Cardiology, ENT, Radiation Oncology, and General Surgery.

  • Charge & Claim Review: Perform astute pre-claim reviews to identify missing codes or deficiencies and resolve specialty-specific claim edits to ensure timely payer submission.

  • Provider Partnership: Research coding inquiries and provide clear written education to providers to improve documentation quality and compliance.

  • Team Collaboration: Participate in monthly department meetings and educational programs to stay ahead of regulatory changes and contribute to a "winning team" environment.

  • Performance Metrics: Maintain a 90% or higher accuracy rate and meet department production standards.

Required Qualifications
  • Certification: Active Core coding credential (CPC, CPC-A, CCA, or CCS-P).

  • Professional Side Experience: * Minimum of 2 years of professional coding experience (or 1 year of professional coding with 2 years of HCC experience).

    • Specific expertise in Hospital Inpatient and Outpatient E/M and ICD-10 (professional side).

    • Demonstrated experience in procedural and surgical coding within an outpatient or primary care setting.

  • Technical Skills: * Strong knowledge of CMS manuals, federal/regulatory guidelines, and correct coding policies.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software.

  • Culture Fit: A self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to communicate written and oral information clearly to healthcare professionals.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Epic EMR software.

  • Associate degree in a healthcare-related field.

Work Schedule & Location
  • Fully Remote: Work from home (excluding CA, CT, IL, ME, NJ, MA, NY, and WA).

  • Flex Schedule: 40-hour work weeks with the ability to choose your start and end times between 5:00 AM and 9:00 PM (Monday-Friday).

Why Apply?
  • Variety and Growth: Gain exposure to multiple high-level surgical specialties.

  • Flexible Work-Life Balance: One of the most flexible remote schedules in the industry.

  • Equipment Support: All necessary IT equipment (laptop, etc.) will be provided for you during the contract period.
