About the Opportunity

Are you a compassionate, skilled Medical Assistant who thrives on building real relationships with patients?

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join a fast-growing, primary care organization centered on Value-Based Care for the senior population (Medicare Advantage members, ages 60+). Unlike high-volume, transactional clinics, our model allots approximately 45 minutes per patient appointment, giving providers and MAs the time needed to deliver high-touch, holistic, and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Intake & Care: Greet and room members, conduct patient interviews, take and record accurate vital signs, gather medical histories, and perform routine screenings (e.g., PHQ-9 depression screenings).

  • Clinical Procedures: Perform phlebotomy and lab draws, EKGs, diabetic retinopathy screenings (IDX), administer injections, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and assist with first aid/CPR as needed.

  • Pre-Visit Planning & Gaps in Care: Work closely with the Primary Care Physician (PCP) to close care gaps (FOCS), navigate external EMR systems, and conduct pre-visit planning.

  • Patient Communication & Coaching: Critically listen to patients, report findings to the PCP, handle patient phone messages/callbacks, process stat referrals, and provide routine health coaching.

  • Quality & Admin Support: Maintain OSHA safety standards, manage clinic inbox/faxes, and complete accurate, ethical clinical documentation.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED and Medical Assistant Diploma / Completion Certificate.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient clinical setting.

  • Phlebotomy Skills: Demonstrated competency with phlebotomy and blood draws (6+ months experience preferred).

  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (eClinicalWorks or AthenaHealth strongly preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).

  • Soft Skills:

    • Exceptional emotional intelligence, compassion, and patience for the geriatric population.

    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and critical-thinking skills.

    • High level of punctuality (daily team huddles start promptly at 8:00 AM).

    • Adaptability and a team-first mindset-willing to jump in and support teammates whenever needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working specifically with senior/geriatric patients.

  • Background in a Value-Based Care or Medicare Advantage clinical environment.

Why Apply?
  • Meaningful Work: Spend quality time with senior members and make a tangible difference in their health and well-being.

  • Predictable Schedule: Regular daytime hours (Monday-Friday, 8 to 5) with consistent 40-hour work weeks and weekends off.

  • Collaborative Culture: Work in a lean, supportive environment alongside physicians and care teams who put compassion first.

For California Applicants:

We will consider for employment all qualified Applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable federal, state and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance (FCIHO), Los Angeles Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers (ULAC), The San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance (FCO) , and the California Fair Chance Act (CFCA).

This position is subject to a background check based on its job duties, which may include patient care, working with vulnerable populations, access to financial and confidential information, driving, working with heavy machinery, or working in a warehouse or laboratory environment. Due to these job duties, this position has a significant impact on the business operations and reputation, as well as the safety and well-being of individuals who may be cared for as part of the job position or who may interact with staff or clients.
