Job description

Job Summary (Senior Database Management Specialist)
- Design, Develop, Maintain Databases: Responsible for architecting, building, optimizing, administering, and maintaining complex enterprise databases, data lakes, and data warehouses for MHBE and related systems.
- Database Architecture & Security: Design database architecture, including data modeling, schema design, security, and governance.
- Data Migration & Integration: Plan and execute data migration strategies, and support integration of databases with various systems and applications.
- Cloud & On-Premises Support: Manage database solutions across both on-premises and AWS Cloud environments; automate database operations in the cloud.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor database performance, troubleshoot, debug, and implement optimizations and cost-reduction strategies.
- ETL & Data Processing: Design, develop, and support ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data across multiple sources and destinations.
- Database Administration: Oversee administration activities including backup, recovery, patching, upgrades, and disaster recovery for PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases.
- Security & Compliance: Perform security hardening, manage user access, and ensure databases meet operational and security compliance requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (developers, analysts, business stakeholders) to support business objectives and IT strategy.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Support system testing (unit, load, end-to-end, validation, UAT) and ensure data quality, validation, and governance.
- Technical Leadership: Provide recommendations for database maintenance, operations, and best practices; contribute innovative ideas for data extraction and sharing.
- Reporting & Analytics: Develop complex SQL and NoSQL queries, create reports, manage indices, and support analytics tools.
- Documentation & Governance: Participate in developing data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data governance programs; adhere to PMO policies and procedures.
- Availability & Flexibility: Must be willing to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, and off-hours, as required.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Six (6)+ years in enterprise database design and solutions.
- Four (4)+ years with PostgreSQL, Informatica, MongoDB, and cloud (AWS) environments.
- Experience with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira, etc.), document management, database migrations, and production support.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, data modeling, ETL, performance tuning, and maintenance.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in health insurance, HIX/ACA systems, EDI transaction sets, disaster recovery, large-scale data management, and analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
- Familiarity with integrated eligibility systems and working with business stakeholders on data governance and compliance.
