How does a Weekend Digital Media Professor typically balance teaching responsibilities with staying current in the rapidly evolving digital media field?

Weekend Digital Media Professors often manage a unique balance between classroom instruction and ongoing professional development. Since digital media trends and technologies evolve quickly, professors frequently dedicate time outside of class—such as during the week or between semesters—to attend industry webinars, collaborate on projects, or engage in research. This ensures their course content remains relevant and engaging for students. In addition, collaborating with colleagues and participating in departmental meetings are common, even for weekend instructors, to maintain alignment with curriculum standards and share best practices.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Digital Media Professor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Digital Media Professor, you typically need a strong background in digital media theory and practice, a relevant advanced degree, and prior teaching experience. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite, learning management systems (LMS), and digital content creation tools is essential. Excellent communication, adaptability, and mentorship skills help engage diverse learners and foster a collaborative classroom environment. These skills ensure effective instruction and keep students current with evolving digital media trends.

What are Weekend Digital Media Professors?

Weekend Digital Media Professors are educators who specialize in teaching digital media subjects—such as graphic design, multimedia production, social media, and digital storytelling—during weekend sessions. They typically work with students who may have weekday commitments or need a more flexible schedule. These professors bring both academic knowledge and practical industry experience to help students gain hands-on skills in various digital media tools and platforms. Weekend classes can be held in-person, online, or in a hybrid format, depending on the institution.

From this foundation we guide students confidently into discerning discovery, preparing them to think biblically, critically, and holistically about how to engage the world. We aspire to care for every student by meeting their academic, spiritual, and social needs with mentorship and support. At HCU, we are cultivating a culture of excellence that will mold a new generation of leaders in their communities, standard-setters in their professions, and fruitful disciples in their churches.

Unified by the transformative power of narrative across these artistic mediums, our graduates are equipped to flourish with a wide range of creative, technical, and professional skills.
At the heart of the Narrative Arts department's success is the School of Fine Art's commitment to mentor and educate students towards excellence in artistic creation for the glory of God.
