As of Sep 5, 2026, the average hourly pay for weekend delivery in the United States is $18.45, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.11 and $20.19 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a weekend delivery?

Weekend delivery jobs involve transporting packages, food, groceries, or other goods to customers primarily on Saturdays and Sundays. These roles are often part-time and can include working for courier services, food delivery apps, or local businesses. Workers may use their own vehicles, bicycles, or company-provided transportation, depending on the employer. Weekend delivery jobs offer flexibility, making them a popular choice for students or those seeking extra income. Typical requirements include a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and good customer service skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend delivery driver?

To thrive as a Weekend Delivery Driver, you need a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and strong knowledge of local routes or GPS navigation. Familiarity with route optimization apps, handheld scanners, and basic vehicle maintenance is typically necessary. Excellent time management, customer service, and reliability set standout drivers apart. These skills ensure timely, accurate deliveries and positive customer experiences, which are critical for maintaining service standards.

What are some common challenges faced by weekend delivery drivers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Weekend delivery drivers often encounter challenges such as increased traffic, fluctuating delivery volumes, and tight delivery windows. Managing these requires strong time-management skills, familiarity with navigation tools, and effective communication with dispatchers and customers. Being adaptable and proactive—such as planning optimal routes ahead of time and staying updated on traffic conditions—can help ensure timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.

Weekend Delivery roles focus on delivering packages mainly during weekends, often with flexible hours. Delivery Drivers work daily or flexible schedules, handling various delivery types. Both roles require a valid driver's license and involve route navigation, but Weekend Delivery is specifically weekend-focused, while Delivery Drivers operate throughout the week.

What delivery companies deliver on weekends?

Many delivery companies, including FedEx, UPS, DHL, and the United States Postal Service (USPS), offer weekend delivery services. These companies often provide options for Saturday and sometimes Sunday deliveries, especially for express or priority shipments, and may require specific scheduling or additional fees. Delivery drivers working in these roles typically need to be flexible with their schedules and may use route planning tools to manage weekend deliveries.

Contract Driver - Weekend Pharmacy Support

Gohfr, Inc.

San Antonio, TX

$14.50 - $17.75/hr

Contractor

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

Company Description

Gohfr is a modern on-demand delivery platform that empowers businesses to deliver goods directly to their customers efficiently and reliably. As a trusted partner in logistics—particularly within the healthcare industry—we connect professional drivers with businesses that rely on timely, secure, and customer-focused deliveries.

Job Description

Gohfr is seeking reliable independent contractor drivers to provide weekend delivery support (Saturday and Sunday) for a large, regional pharmacy client. This is an ideal opportunity for independent drivers looking to supplement their income through flexible, meaningful work delivering time-sensitive prescriptions to patients in their community.

As a Gohfr Contractor Driver, you will pick up prescriptions and related items from the client's local service center and deliver them directly to patient and facility locations within approximately a 50-mile / 1-hour service radius. Contractors sign up for and commit to a full scheduled shift (approximately 4-6 hours) on Saturday, Sunday, or both, and are responsible for completing all deliveries assigned during that shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pick up prescriptions and related items from the client's service center
  • Deliver to locations promptly and professionally within the ~50-mile service radius
  • Handle all goods and items with care, following required delivery protocols (including any temperature-sensitive or chain-of-custody handling instructions)
  • Provide excellent customer service during all patient and facility interactions
  • Maintain professional, courteous conduct throughout all deliveries
  • Communicate promptly with Gohfr and the client regarding any delivery issues, delays, or exceptions
Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Reliable personal vehicle (car, SUV, or truck)
  • Smartphone (iOS or Android) with an active data plan for use with the Gohfr driver app
  • Valid U.S. driver's license (CDL not required)
  • 3+ years of proven driving/delivery experience (medical courier or gig-economy delivery experience preferred)
  • Prior experience with other gig delivery platforms (e.g., Uber, DoorDash, Amazon Flex) highly desirable
  • Must pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Fluent in English (bilingual candidates welcome)
  • Current, valid vehicle insurance, registration, and inspection
  • Willingness to submit a completed IRS Form W-9 for 1099 independent contractor classification
  • Professional appearance and current, accurate profile photo in the Gohfr app

Additional Information

This is an independent contractor position, not an employee position. Contractors are engaged under a 1099 arrangement to provide delivery services during shifts they sign up for and commit to complete, consistent with the terms of their Gohfr Independent Contractor Agreement. Contractors:

  • Choose which available shifts to sign up for (Saturday, Sunday, or both) and are responsible for completing all deliveries within a shift once committed
  • Provide and maintain their own vehicle and equipment
  • Are responsible for their own tools, expenses, vehicle costs, and applicable taxes
  • Are not entitled to employee benefits, minimum wage, or overtime
