Daycare Cook (Monday-Friday, No Nights or Weekends)

A to Z Building Blocks

Eagle Mountain, UT โ€ข On-site

$13.75 - $18.50/hr

Full-time

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

A to Z Building Blocks is looking for a reliable, hardworking Daycare Center Cook to help keep our children fueled and ready for their day!

Our cooks play an important role in our centers. You'll prepare and serve meals and snacks, keep the kitchen clean and organized, and make sure food is ready when our classrooms need it.

This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on kitchen experience who wants to move away from restaurant nights and weekends and into a consistent Monday–Friday daytime schedule.

You don't need to be a professional chef. Experience working in a daycare kitchen, school cafeteria, lunchroom, fast-food restaurant, prep kitchen, or other busy food-service environment can be a great fit for this position.

What You'll Do

  • Preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks from a planned menu
  • Following standardized recipes, food-safety requirements, and CACFP guidelines
  • Preparing ingredients and cooking with ovens and stovetops
  • Making sure meals and snacks are ready on schedule
  • Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen
  • Washing dishes and completing daily kitchen cleaning
  • Monitoring food quality and proper food storage
  • Keeping track of food and kitchen supplies
  • Grocery shopping and communicating supply needs
  • Helping maintain the kitchen budget
  • Driving an A to Z Building Blocks bus when needed

What We're Looking For

Previous cooking or kitchen experience is required.

You may be a great fit if you have experience working in a:

  • Childcare or daycare kitchen
  • School cafeteria or lunchroom
  • Fast-food kitchen
  • Restaurant
  • Prep kitchen
  • Commercial or high-volume food-service environment

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can work at a steady pace, stay organized, follow recipes, manage their time, and get food prepared and served on schedule.

Position Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Previous cooking or kitchen experience
  • Comfortable preparing food for groups
  • Ability to read and follow recipes
  • Strong organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily kitchen responsibilities
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to complete A to Z Building Blocks bus-driver training and drive company buses when needed
  • Food Handler Permit or willingness to obtain one before starting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to pass all required background checks

Your Schedule

This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position with consistent daytime hours.

No nights. No weekends.
