Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a Data Architect / Data Steward / Subject Matter Expert (SME) who serves as the lead advisor on all aspects of enterprise data management. This potential opportunity provides strategic and technical leadership in data architecture, data stewardship, analysis, migration, modeling, integration, warehousing, database design, and cloud best practices. The SME researches and evaluates solutions, recommends improvements, and supports the organization in building secure, scalable, and efficient data environments aligned with current and future business needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the SME for all aspects of enterprise data management, providing leadership in data architecture, stewardship, governance, migration, integration, warehousing, database design, and cloud best practices.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to data processes, platforms, standards, and enterprise data strategy.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions to support data management and cloud modernization efforts.
  • Lead activities related to data analysis, data migration, validation, clean-up, and mapping to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems.
  • Produce, maintain, and update data dictionaries and related metadata documentation.
  • Provide technical support for research, experimentation, business analysis, and the use of systems technology, including architecture, integration capabilities, and database management.
  • Provide technical and data leadership to application developers and IT infrastructure teams, while remaining aware of the future direction of systems and the impact on the enterprise.
  • Advise on how current and future systems can be leveraged to support and benefit enterprise operations.
  • Work closely with other IT groups to coordinate current and future IT plans and activities, including support for development projects involving the computing environment, software upgrades, and installation of new products.
  • Recognize and identify areas where existing policies and procedures require revision, or where new policies and procedures should be developed, especially in support of future business expansion.
  • Apply data management and cloud best practices to improve efficiency, security, maintainability, and enterprise value.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in data analysis, data migration tools, data modeling, data integration, data warehousing, and database design.
  • 5+ years of experience addressing issues of data migration, validation, clean-up, and mapping, including producing and maintaining data dictionaries.
  • 5+ years of experience providing technical support in research, experimentation, business analysis, and the use of systems technology, including architecture, integration capabilities, and database management.
  • 5+ years of experience providing technical and data leadership for application developers and IT infrastructure, with an understanding of future systems direction, enterprise impact, and opportunities to leverage current and future technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience working closely with other IT groups to coordinate current and future IT plans and activities, including technical assistance for development projects, coordination of software upgrades, and installation of new products.
  • 5+ years of experience recognizing and identifying potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new policies and procedures need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion.

Work Location
Work will be performed at DEA offices in Merrifield, VA; DEA Headquarters in Arlington, VA; and other offices deemed appropriate by the Government.
