Job description

The YMCA of Central Texas is searching for passionate, energetic positive role models to join our team as ChildWatch Counselors!

The ideal ChildWatch Counselor is a strong communicator and problem solver who is able to engage with children aged 6 weeks to 13 years.

This is a year-round Part-Time position. Monday- Friday 8:00am- 12:00pm, as well as weekend shifts Saturdays 8:00am-1:00pm, Sundays 1:00pm-4:00pm . Must be flexible to work during school breaks.

We are offering $260 bonus for new staff!

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure the safety of participants at all times through active supervision while meeting the individual needs of each child in their care
  • Model the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility at all times
  • Be an appropriate, positive role model

Skills/ Requirements:

  • High school Diploma/GED preferred
  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • Must be able to be on your feet the entire length of your shift and be able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • 12 months experience working with children preferred
  • Be friendly, courteous, enthusiastic, possess a cooperative attitude, and be a team player
  • Be CPR/AED and First Aid certified or willing to be certified within first 30 days of employment
  • Must be able to pass reference checks, criminal history background check, Sex Offender Registry check, and pre-employment drug screen prior to hiring

Pay Rate: $13.00 to $15.00/hour
