Job description

Job Title: Installer / Lead Installer

Position Summary:
The Installer/Lead Installer is responsible for delivering, uncrating, assembling, and setting commercial kitchen equipment for contractor connection while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. In the Lead Installer capacity, this role involves managing other installers, coordinating on-site activities, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently and effectively. This role requires occasional overnight, out-of-town, and overtime work to meet customer needs.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Act as a job site foreman, overseeing and coordinating the work of other installers.
    • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to ensure proper techniques and safety practices are followed.
    • Assign tasks to installers and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of projects.
    • Communicate project goals, expectations, and updates to the team.
    • Resolve on-site issues and escalate significant problems to the Project Manager as needed.
  • Transportation & Delivery:
    • Unload trucks and move products safely to minimize damage.
    • Load and secure tools, equipment, stainless steel, and other materials for jobs.
    • Conduct daily truck inspections and maintain cleanliness.
  • Installation:
    • Assemble and install “flight-type” dish machines, walk-in coolers/freezers, ovens, stainless steel tables, islands, and sinks.
    • Hang exhaust/condensation hoods, shelving, and wall-mounted products (e.g., pot racks, fry cutters).
    • Cut, modify, and install stainless steel components as needed.
    • Field polish and weld stainless steel.
    • Set commercial kitchen equipment in place for contractor connections.
  • Documentation & Communication:
    • Read and interpret work orders and construction plans.
    • Use a computer tablet to log job progress, hours, and site pictures.
    • Complete all work documentation accurately.
    • Communicate job progress and issues with the Project Manager.
    • Track and report expenses incurred during projects.
  • Maintenance & Organization:
    • Maintain the yard and keep the warehouse organized.
    • Maintain job storage warehouse and ensure proper organization of all stored equipment.
  • Customer Engagement:
    • Inspect installations with contractors and customers to ensure satisfaction.
    • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism.
  • Safety & Training:
    • Attend safety and product training sessions.
    • Adhere to all company safety protocols.

Competencies, Skills, and Abilities

  • Leadership Skills:
    • Ability to lead a team, assign tasks, and ensure accountability.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with basic construction knowledge, tools, and equipment.
    • Advanced mechanical skills and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
    • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and O/M manuals.
    • Forklift operation experience (preferred).
    • Welding expertise, especially with stainless steel.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Critical thinking and ability to work independently.
    • Solid communication skills with a customer service focus.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Lift up to 50-100 lbs frequently.
    • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and overnight shifts when required.
    • Availability to work out of town as needed.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and relevant codes.
  • 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction or mechanical equipment installation.
  • Prior experience managing or supervising a team (preferred).
  • Welding experience (preferred).
  • Trade school certification (preferred).
  • Ability to pass a background check.
