Below, you'll find other important information about this position.Under the direct guidance and supervision of the primary operative surgeon, assists the surgeon in the perioperative care of patients and performs duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Must have ONE of the following certifications:

  • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)

  • Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA)

  • Surgical Assistant-Certified (SA-C) through theAmericanBoard of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)

2. BLS certified within 30 days of hire.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Three (3) years as a Surgical Technician.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years as a Surgical Technician.

1. Perform the duties of a Certified Surgical Technician II.

2. Assist in patient positioning.

3. Placement of pneumatic tourniquet.

4. Urinary catheter placement.

5. Assists with holding or manipulation of surgical instruments intraoperatively as directed by the surgeon.

6. Prepping of the surgical site including draping patient with surgeon's guidelines.

7. Maintains hemostasis by any manner to include but not limited to clamping, cauterizing or ligating as directed by surgeon.

8 Provide retraction and manipulation of tissue and organs with regard to tissue type and appropriate technique as directed by the surgeon.

9. Assist in placement and suturing of surgical drains.

10. Closure of any and all layers of wounds as per surgeon's directive.

11. Assist with all procedures under direction of the surgeon.

12. Maintain integrity of sterile field.

13. Other duties as defined and within scope of practice, skill set and level of competence.

1. Able to bend, stoop, and reach and capable of normal rotation.

4. May be required to travel between facilities.
