The Cafe 67 Kitchen Associate is responsible for daily food production for the chef case and cooler cases while partnering with Cafe staff to ensure production is completed efficiently while upholding the highest quality. The Associate may review recipes and work with the Cafe Manager on menu creation and production planning. The Associate is also responsible for following all standard operating procedures including but not limited to maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, ensuring equipment is in working order, tracking/recording food production and waste and following all rules and regulations regarding food production (FIFO, stock rotation, food temping, etc.) and completes other duties as assigned to support Cafe operations.  



Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong working knowledge of cold Case production techniques.  (strongly preferred).
  • Experience in General kitchen operations  (strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency in large batch salad and sandwich preparation  (strongly preferred).
  • Proficient knife skills (required).
  • Familiarity with the preparation of natural foods-vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc. (required).
  • Knowledge of organic food, farming, sustainability, health, and nutrition (preferred).
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team while being able to work independently without constant supervision and direction.
  • Ability to readily adapt based on evolving Co-op needs or in response to feedback.
  • Ability to maintain composure in highly stressful or adverse situations.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow and complete task checklists and fully carry-out instruction independently.
  • Must have flexible availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays to align with store needs. 
  • Possess a valid Food Handlers certification (preferred).
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs from floor.
  • Ability to twist, turn, bend, reach and perform repetitive motions.
  • Due to the structure of the facility, must be able to climb stairs multiple times per day (or use elevator). 
  • Majority of time is spent in production kitchen for up to 8 hours, which requires physical activity (i.e., prolonged standing, walking, standing, crouching, bending, lifting) and exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
