Weekend Nurse Supervisor

Program/ Location: Men's Addiction Treatment Center, Brockton MA
Education: RN License 
Pay Rate: $48.50-$56.50/hr (Experience and Education dependent)
Schedule: Full Time / Part Time 
Shift: Weekends

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency whose mission is to treat and prevent substance use disorders and mental illness. High Point has programs located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Programs and services also assist survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness. High Point believes that everyone has inherent goodness, worth, and dignity. Our goal is to help individuals and families achieve personal change and improve their quality of life.

Campus Supervisor Requirements 

  • Must present as courteous and professional at all times

  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion

  • Proficient and knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train HPHAO`s electronic medical records

  • Must have the ability to work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner

  • An understanding of the relationship between substance use and mental health issues and/or self-help programs

  • An understanding of boundaries and ethics

  • Comply with Federal, 42 CFR Part 2, Substance Abuse Confidentiality and HIPAA Regulations

  • Certification in the HPHAO approved de-escalation program

  • Five to eight years of direct care experience is recommended, at least one of which that involves an acute and/or emergency medical unit, and at least one year on a psychiatric unit

  • Supervisory experience

  • All requirements for a Registered Nurse

  • Must maintain and submit licensure/certificate necessary to perform the required position.

  • CPR certification

  • TB assessment

  • Ability to assist in training and education of staff

  • Able to be flexible with scheduling time and location in order to provide supervision/training as needed

Campus Supervisor Duties & Responsibilities

  • Compliance with DPH, DMH, Joint Commission, DEA and all other regulatory agencies as required

  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria

  • Assure patient care is meeting best practice standards

  • Insures safety of all patients in facility

  • Assure staff is in compliance with all Joint Commission, DPH, DMH governing regulations and payor guidelines

  • Assure staff compliance with High Point policies and procedures

  • Participates in the training, and evaluation of staff as needed

  • Assist in training staff to develop staff competency in use of electronic medical record

  • Acts as a liaison between staff and managers for program, dietary and office supplies for smooth operation of the program and notifies managers via phone of any issues or concerns needing follow-up

  • Begins shift by visiting every unit to determine staff attendance and acuity of the unit

  • Responds to all critical emergencies/codes to provide guidance, assess staff response and notify appropriate manager including events that require police intervention

  • Assures that staff completes and disseminates all appropriate internal and external incident reports

  • Assists infection control program and oversee compliance with OSHA requirements as needed

  • Assists in Infection Control trainings and chairs quarterly Infection Control Meetings

  • Responsible for the triaging staffing needs as needed on 3-11 shift in order to maintain adequate staffing patterns\

  • Regularly makes rounds on all campus areas and programs including (inpatient, outpatient departments, dietary, housekeeping and maintenance) to ensure all staff are performing according to job description/responsibilities and patients are receiving optimum care, in all areas of service delivery

  • Notifies maintenance of any immediate safety issues

  • Meets regularly with the Nurse Managers/Program Directors to maintain consistency in practice

  • Attend mandatory training to update knowledge base and enhance both professional and personal growth

  • Assists in assessing Mock Codes as well as real codes as needed, for training recommendations and compliance with HPHAO regulations

  • Provides a daily detailed report of shift activity to Site Director, VP of Nursing, Director of Section 35 Services

  • Intervenes with staff for critical infractions and notifies appropriate supervisor for need of corrective actions

  • Acts as a consultant to the staff when assistance is needed for behavioral issues;

  • Notify managers immediately if adequate staff is not on duty

  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Director/VP of Nurses and Senior Vice President of HPHAO to insure safe and appropriate operation of the facility.

Campus Supervisor Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Massachusetts, BS in Nursing preferred or equivalent experience. Management experience required
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
