Job Summary

Regis University Athletics is seeking a dedicated, professional Athletics CDL Bus Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and compliant commercial transportation for our NCAA Division II student-athletes, coaches, and staff. You will transport teams to and from athletic competitions, practices, and regional athletic events. Because teams travel locally and regionally across the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), this role requires a flexible schedule, including frequent evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.

Position Overview

  • Position Title: Athletics Bus Driver (CDL)
  • Department: Regis University Athletics
  • Employment Type: Part-Time / As-Needed (Seasonal/Hourly Pool)
  • Compensation: $45.00 – $65.00 per hour (Commensurate with experience; higher premium rates apply to overnight travel and mountain routes).
  • Location: Denver, CO (Northwest Denver Campus).
  • Reports To: Associate VP/Director of Athletics and Athletic Operations Coordinator.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Transport: Provide safe, timely transportation for Regis Rangers athletic teams to away games, tournaments, and practices.
  • Travel Flexibility: Navigate long-distance regional road trips, managing variable winter mountain weather and evening driving conditions.
  • Safety Inspections: Perform mandatory Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-trip and post-trip vehicle mechanical inspections daily.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) hours-of-service limitations and logging requirements.
  • Athletic Policy Adherence: Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to all Regis University Athletics Staff Handbook policies, Title IX policies, and NCAA/RMAC compliance regulations.
  • Cargo Management: Assist coaching staff and student-athletes with loading and securing heavy athletic gear, bags, and equipment.
  • Vehicle Care: Ensure the university bus fleet remains clean, fueled, and structurally safe before and after trips.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • License Requirement: Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Mandatory Endorsement: Active Passenger (P) endorsement is required. (Air Brake endorsement is highly preferred).
  • Driving History: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) matching Regis University vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Physical & Health Standards: Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Physical) and the ability to pass random drug/alcohol screens.
  • Physical Ability: Capable of sitting for extended periods of driving and lifting up to 50 lbs of team luggage and sports equipment.
  • Background Check: Must clear a comprehensive university background screening, including criminal history and fingerprinting.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience, preferably chartering college or high school athletic teams.
