Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Obtain First Aid/CPR training.
3. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
4. Ability and willingness to take directions.
5. Ability and willingness to meet the needs of students.
6. Excellent references including attendance and punctuality.
Job Goals:
To provide support in the educational services for special needs students.
Essential Job Functions:
Be proficient in operating the school bus lifts and monitoring student conduct on buses.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Provide care and assistance to passengers in route and entering or leaving the bus during transportation. Maintain appropriate student behavior.
2. Load and unload passengers as needed using mechanical lift apparatus.
3. Secure students as necessary with seat belts, care seats, safety vest, or wheelchair secure systems. Provide assistance to students with medical and/or hygiene needs.
4. Assist Bus Drivers with following route directions, preparing written disciplinary action reports, and maintaining the cleanliness of the bus.
5. Assist Bus Driver with performing emergency evacuations and drills.
6. Attend appropriate inservices, building meetings, training, and/or school functions.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

11. History of consistent attendance and punctuality.
Materials & Equipment Operating Knowledge:
1. Operating knowledge of power lifts or ramps, adaptive and assistive devices (oxygen containment systems, suctioning equipment, apnea monitors, ventilation equipment, etc.) and devices used to support and secure students (mobile seating devices, child safety restraint, safety vest, special belts, assistive technology devices, trays and securing hardware, belt cutters and fire blankets) may be preferred or required. Required after on-the-job training.
2. Operating knowledge of various types of wheel chairs, scooters, strollers and tie downs may be preferred or required. Required after on-the-job training.
3. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals preferred.
4. Operating knowledge of and experience with office software preferred.
5. Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc. preferred
Salary:
Bus Monitors are on the Classified Salary Schedule.
- FFC8 allows new hires to bring in up to 8 years of previous experience in similar school type settings.
- Please understand that new hires tend to start out at the lower end of the salary range.

Fountain-Fort Carson School District # 8 provides medical, dental, vision, chiropractic, life, long-term disability, accidental death & dismemberment insurances, and paid time off benefits. There are district and employee contributions to some or most of these benefits.
Employment Period:
185 days per year - 5 Hour Work Day
