Working weekends is common in this role to accommodate customer availability and increase sales opportunities. However, specific schedules can vary depending on the dealership's policies and location.

Do car salesmen make money per hour?

What are weekend car salesmen?

Weekend car salesmen are professionals who primarily work on weekends at car dealerships, assisting customers in selecting and purchasing vehicles. They provide information about different car models, arrange test drives, and negotiate prices and financing options. This role is ideal for individuals who have strong sales and communication skills but may be seeking part-time or supplementary income. Weekend car salesmen often work during peak dealership hours, as weekends typically see higher customer traffic. Their goal is to create a positive buying experience and help customers find a vehicle that meets their needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Car Salesman, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Car Salesman, you need strong sales acumen, product knowledge, and customer service skills, typically supported by a high school diploma and on-the-job training. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software and dealership inventory systems is often essential. Exceptional communication, persuasion, and active listening skills help build rapport with customers and close deals. These qualities are crucial for meeting sales targets and creating a positive buying experience during high-traffic weekend shifts.

Balancing multiple clients simultaneously while providing personalized attention can be challenging. To succeed, it's important to maintain strong organizational skills, quickly build rapport, and prioritize follow-ups. Collaborating effectively with finance and management teams also helps ensure smooth transactions and positive customer experiences.

Job description

Ourisman, Trusted Tradition
Here's to those who think differently. The ones who think that a car dealership's first priority should be the guest. Such a candid idea could only come from Ourisman. Because we're forward thinking, just like the communities we serve. Individuals who won't be constrained by how things "have always been done", but instead strive to do things "how they could be done" and "how they should be done." It is a philosophy we have infused into every fabric of our dealerships, from the bottom up, in every department, and in every Ourisman team member. Changing the way we all think about car buying is just the beginning.
Role Summary
Ourisman Automotive Group is seeking an experienced and results-driven Used Car Manager to assist in leading the used car sales team. The Used Car Manager reinforces high standards for performance and customer service while closely collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
More about the role

  • Analyze and report on sales performance, including metrics such as sales volume, customer satisfaction score, etc.
  • Recruit, train, and motivate the used car sales team, setting clear performance expectations and conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Coach and develop team members, helping them build product knowledge, sales skills, and customer service expertise.
  • Establish a positive, goal-oriented team culture that promotes collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a customer-focused environment, ensuring high standards of service and satisfaction throughout the sales process.
  • Lead the used car sales team, providing training and guidance on sales techniques, product knowledge, and customer service best practices.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor the used car sales team, ensuring a positive work environment that encourages high performance and continuous development.
  • Maintain accurate records of used vehicle transactions, ensuring compliance with dealership policies and legal standards.
  • Work closely with the Service and Parts departments to ensure vehicles are properly inspected, reconditioned, and ready for sale.

What we look for
  • Proven experience in automotive sales, preferably in used car sales management or a related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive market trends, inventory management, and sales processes. Proficient in dealership management systems (DMS), CRM software, and digital sales platforms.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and negotiate deals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and make strategic decisions.
  • A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and maintaining high customer satisfaction.

  • Short-term and Long-term disability insurance
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Paid time off and holiday leave
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth
