About the Company

SC Steel, LLC was established January 2, 2018, as a subsidiary of FabSouth and acquired the assets of SMI-Owen Steel Company, Inc. on April 1, 2018. SMI-Owen Steel Company had owned the business since 1994 when they acquired it from South Carolina Steel Company. The Upstate South Carolina facility has been in operation at this location since 1952.


Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant. This team member will provide financial reports, analysis, and investigations to the Controller and SC Steels management team; identify opportunities for improvement and areas of financial and operational weakness; manage day-to-day tasks and files; and support management by processing, tracking, and reporting key revenue data and financial information that is vital to our ongoing operations and success.


Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Create and manage financial and cost statements and dashboards
  2. Complete audit inquiries
  3. Provide quality assurance for financial and cost reports prior to publishing
  4. Provide ad-hoc financial reports and visualizations on an as-needed basis
  5. Manage the day-to-day tasks of financial transactions
  6. Enter, post, and reconcile Journal Entries to the General Ledger
  7. Update and reconcile sub-ledgers to the General Ledger
  8. Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
  9. Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
  10. Support the Accounting Manager and the Accounting Department at large through impromptu reporting and special projects when requested
