About AB Dynamics

Roles Overview
The position is responsible for ensuring that products meet performance, safety and quality standards. Develops and designs new products for the automotive industry testing space. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned or requested. 

  • Product Development:
    • Follows DRI's internal Product Development Process, including the safety risk assessment to ensure products are safe for customer use.
    • Designs specialized products and equipment for the automotive industry and develops improvements on existing product lines.
    • Fabricates prototypes of new products
    • Documents and prepares designs for manufacturing that meets industry standards. 
    • Develops and executes testing plans for the products to ensure durability, performance, functionality, design, usability, and all other requirements are met.

  • Product Support
    • Technical point of contact with the external customers. 
    • Ensures customers receive quality products that meet their expectations and that customer inquiries issues are addresses promptly.
    • Creates and maintains documentation, including User Manuals, Technical Specifications, Assembly Instructions, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Collaboration: 
    • Works with other engineering staff in defining, designing, and testing products.
    • Works with safety, manufacturing, operations, finance, and quality assurance to ensure the final product meets all requirements. 

  • Health, Safety and Workplace Responsibility
    • Incorporate safe work practices into your daily activities and immediately reporting near misses, hazards or injuries
    • Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures
    • Complete required safety training, attending scheduled meetings. 
    • Using equipment properly, and wearing appropriate PPE as required (face covers, ear plugs, gloves etc.)

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering), Product Design, or Product Development
  • Demonstrated experience in product development and mechanical design
  • Strong CAD/CAM skills
  • Ability to manage projects and meet development milestones
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of shop equipment including CNC mills, routers, and lathes
  • Familiarity with vacuum forming
  • Experience with 3D printing
  • Familiarity with electronics and software for microcontrollers such as Arduinos

Must be able to walk, bend, reach, and lift, if necessary 50 pounds or more. The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
