Job description

BC Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for Child/Adolescent Inpatient and RTC

Laurel Heights Hospital provides residential treatment programs for children and adolescents (ages 7 and up) who present with severe and complex psychiatric and behavioral difficulties that impact multiple areas of functioning.

Adolescent patients reside in separate treatment units designated by age, gender, and treatment needs. This ensures that programming will meet our residents' specific developmental needs and individualized treatment issues. Through our Discovery and Declaration Programs, Laurel Heights Hospital provides highly specialized residential treatment for boys ages 7–17 who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, and who demonstrate severe behavioral difficulties and psychiatric illnesses.

Position Overview:

  • Employment Type: Hospital Employed, on-site only
  • Schedule / Hours: weekends, weekdays, holiday and vacation coverage
  • Patient Volume: will vary by unit census
  • Location: Atlanta, GA
  • Practice Setting: Inpatient Acute General and Inpatient Autism Units ages 6 -17 and RTC units ages 7 -17
  • Support / Care Team: Multidisciplinary with BC Psychiatrists, BH Techs, BH RN, Psychiatric NPs, Social Workers, and Therapists
  • EMR / Technology: HCS

Responsibilities:

  • Your role will encompass admission evaluations and assessments, managing treatment teams, overseeing discharge processes, and performing related administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with physicians, NPs, and support staff.
  • Document care using HCS.

Position Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Nursing with certification as a Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with one of the accredited National Certification Organizations (ANCC, AANP).
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia; Certification with a National Certification Board
  • Five (5) years of experience in the area of child psychiatry with proficiency in treating autism spectrum disorders.
  • Unencumbered State of GA Licensed NP, expertise, or interest, in treating patients with mental illness and addictive disorders preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will be dual Boarded as Family Nurse Practitioner
