Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant - Long Term Care.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant - Long Term Care at MercyOne, supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct resident care. These duties may vary by shift or may be unit-specific. The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) is responsible for providing care for residents of diverse ages. Works rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Schedule:

  • 12-hours; weekend shifts; Friday, Saturday and Sunday; 10:00 P - 10:00 A or 6 P - 6 A
  • added to holiday rotation

General Requirements:

  • Delivers assigned resident care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
  • Provides direct care to adult and geriatric long-term care residents, supervising and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed while promoting independence.
  • Performs or assists residents with activities including personal hygiene, bathing, transporting, range of motion exercises, dressing/undressing, feeding, changing bandages, elimination needs, and emptying drainage devices.
  • Safely ambulate residents who are able, reporting to the charge nurse or supervisor when ambulation becomes difficult or unsafe.
  • Responds to resident calls and anticipates resident needs. Assures resident safety and comfort through use of safe patient handling techniques, regular rounding, environmental maintenance, equipment maintenance, and other appropriate safety measures.
  • Calculates intake and output. Measures vital signs. Makes entries to resident health records as consistent with scope of job duties and in compliance with company policy.
  • Initiates or assists with emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting resident from injury).
  • Performs post-mortem care.
  • Prepares residents and rooms for admissions and transfers.
  • Observes and reports information regarding any change in physical/mental condition, behavior, or status of the resident to the nurse.
  • Collects and labels specimens.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager

Education:

  • Must be 16 years old
  • Certified Nurse Aide certification with a minimum of 75 hours training
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter - Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.
