Job description

The Analyzer Technician assists in the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of process analyzers and field instrumentation used to monitor and control industrial processes. This position supports primarily plant process analyzers and has the secondary role of instrumentation team support while developing technical skills in process measurement, control systems, and industrial maintenance. The technician works under the guidance of experienced personnel to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and accurately.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversee, calibration, and troubleshooting of process analyzers, including gas chromatographs, moisture analyzers, oxygen analyzers, H₂S analyzers, pH analyzers, and sample conditioning systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on analyzer systems, routine PM's and bottle change outs as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate process analyzer performance and adjust as needed to maintain optimal performance.
  • Assist with loop checks, functional testing, equipment commissioning, and startup activities of analyzer and process instrumentation.
  • Support the Instrumentation department in calibration of field instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, control valves, and valve positioners.
  • Replace sensors, tubing, regulators, filters, switches, transmitters, and other instrumentation components as required.
  • Document maintenance activities using the company CMMS.
  • Follow all safety procedures, permitting requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Possess a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
  • Aware of environmental factors such as temperature, vibration, noise affecting calibration.
  • Must be able to use software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Understands software programs related to instrumentation, electrical and analyzer equipment.
  • Strong familiarity with control systems and instrumentation.
  • Ability to perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks.
  • Willingness and drive to learn tasks at hand.
  • Good, clear, concise, and thorough written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems for monitoring plant operations.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
  • Effective time management to prioritize tasks and efficiently handle workload.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and participate in an on-call rotation to support plant operations and respond to after-hours maintenance and emergency callout activities.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of industrial instrumentation and electrical experience in construction, maintenance, or design.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.

Certifications:
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
